The birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW is called Maulid. In Indonesia it happens every 12 Rabiul Awal in Hijriyah Calendar. The “maulid” or “milad” word arrive from Arabic which means “the born day”.
Substancely, the celebration is to show the happiness and great respect upon Him. Sekolah Vision also celebrates the Maulid Nabi with Moslem Students. We watched the movie of Prophet Muhammad. The story was about the birth of Muhammad and his life journey. We also listened the good attitudes of Prophet Muhammad delivered by Mr Mahmud.
We recited the Quran as well also sang the “sholawat of Prophet Muhammad”. There was a unique tradition of Maulid Nabi we had. It is called “udik udikan”. It is when we sang the sholawat, the students are taking some gifts at once. The event ended by the students were taking 2 snacks which they bring to join with others. It was nice, fun, and solemn event altogether.
